One week after Cook’s Seafood abruptly announced it had closed its Pleasanton and Menlo Park restaurants, a new flyer posted at the Koll Center Plaza storefront suggests the business could reopen.

“To our valued customers, Cook’s Seafood is currently restructuring its operations,” the notice reads. “During this transition, the restaurant will be closed. Thank you for your loyalty and support over the years. We appreciate your patience as we determine the best path forward.”

It’s unclear when the new flyer was posted.

The original flyer posted to the restaurant’s door last Wednesday suggested the Pleasanton location had closed for good. A similar flyer was posted at the Menlo Park flagship restaurant, which had been operating for 98 years. Employees who spoke with the Weekly’s sister publication, The Almanac, said they were told of the closure in a group text message sent about 3 a.m. Oct. 29 by owner Roy Crumrine Jr.

The Pleasanton location had only been open for a little more than a year. The restaurant first announced plans to expand to the city in 2017 but didn’t open until May 2025.

Chef Moises Bucio attributed the delay to personnel changes at the Menlo Park restaurant, the COVID-19 pandemic and his own medical issues.
