The long-awaited Springtown Community Park and Disc Golf Course is set to open on Saturday, featuring playgrounds, a fitness area, a community garden and more.
The 6.8-acre park, located at 998 Bluebell Drive, will also have shaded picnic areas, walking and biking paths, a plaza and the 18-hole disc golf course. There will be restrooms and parking on site. A celebration is set for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, with remarks from local officials and a scavenger hunt for families.
The grand opening of the $9.6 million park has been nearly a decade in the making. The 85-acre property used to be occupied by a nine-hole golf course, which closed in 2015. The city then converted the land to open space.

In 2017, the Livermore City Council adopted the Springtown Open Space plan, which it co-created with the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District. The plan conceptualized building a park on the property, with suggested amenities including playgrounds, shade structures, a nine-hole disc golf course, a dog park, sports courts and community gardens. However, the plan was put on hold due to lack of funding.
Construction began in August 2025. The majority of funding for the park, about $9.4 million, will come from park fees, while the rest, $220,000, will come from revenue from Measure BB, a countywide transportation sales tax.
