‘Bites & Vines’ debut
Livermore Downtown Inc., the local nonprofit that supports Livermore’s downtown economic health and vitality, will be hosting its first-ever “Bites & Vines: A Taste of Downtown” next Thursday (Sept. 17).
During the inaugural event, which runs from 4-9 p.m., attendees will be able to “Sip, stroll and savor your way through downtown Livermore with local bites, wine and beer,” according to the nonprofit.
Over 20 restaurants will be participating in the event, along with more than 18 wineries, breweries and local shops.
Guests can choose a food and beverage ticket to enjoy the full experience or they can opt for a food-only ticket. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.livermoredowntown.com.
Tech summit
Innovate Bay, an East Bay startup and innovation hub, is bringing together founders, investors, enterprise leaders, policymakers and visionaries who are “shaping the future of technology and regional innovation” for its one-day “Convergence Tech Summit” in San Ramon next week.
The event, which is set to take place next Thursday (Sept. 17) from from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Roundhouse Market & Conference Center in Bishop Ranch, will include presentations, summit sessions and a chance to network with some of the leaders of innovation in the Bay Area.

Library book sale
The Friends of the Pleasanton Library, a group of volunteers who raise funds for the library, is bringing back its Fall Book and Media Sale next week.
Residents who buy books, movies, music, games or puzzles at the event, which takes place at the public library from next Wednesday through Saturday (Sept. 16-19), will help fund the library’s services and resources, according to the group.
Members will have early access that first day. It will then be open to the public from 1-7 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. next Saturday.

Election forums
The Pleasanton Weekly is hosting three in-person candidate forums next week for the November general election.
The first one will be for the Danville Town Council, which is set for Monday (Sept. 14) from 6-7:15 p.m. at the Family Justice Center, located at 319 Diablo Road in Danville.
Next will be the Dublin Unified School District board forum (Areas 3 and 5), which takes place Wednesday (Sept. 16) from 6-7:30 p.m. at the district boardroom at 7471 Larkdale Ave.
The San Ramon Valley Unified School District board forum (Area 5 contestants, plus uncontested candidates for Areas 1 and 4) occurs Thursday (Sept. 17) from 7-8:30 p.m. at its district office, located at 699 Old Orchard Drive.
Recordings will be available after each event.
E-bike safety class
The Pleasanton Police Department is holding an “E-Bike & E-Moto Safety Class” next week at the city’s Operations Services Center.
“As e-bikes and e-motos become increasingly common on Pleasanton streets, understanding the rules of the road is important for riders, parents, and the entire community,” police said in an event advisory.
“The class will cover e-bike and e-moto safety, which types of bikes are legal, rules and regulations riders should know, and parent and guardian liability,” they added. “Whether you ride, have a young rider at home, or simply want to better understand the rules, this class is a great opportunity to learn more and help keep Pleasanton’s roads safe.”
The session is set for Monday (Sept. 14) from 6-8 p.m. in the Remillard Room, 3333 Busch Road.
Vasco Road study
The Contra Costa County Public Works Transportation Engineering team recently completed its comprehensive corridor safety and improvements study for a portion of Vasco Road located between Marsh Creek Road, Highway 4 and the southern boundary of Contra Costa and Alameda counties.
The study, which incorporated input from Vasco Road users and community members that the county has gathered, identifies and looks to address safety, traffic, roadway infrastructure and environmental concerns.
Now, the county is once again asking the public to review the Vasco Road Corridor Safety Improvement Study Final Report and provide any additional feedback by Tuesday (Sept. 15). Diaper drive
A donation drive next week in Livermore seeks new, unopened diapers and wipes for low-income families in Alameda County.
Hosted by the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District, the Diaper Drive supports Hively’s Diaper Pantry.
The Diaper Drive is scheduled for Monday through Saturday (Sept. 14-19).
Donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the drive at the Robert Livermore Community Center recreation building located at 4446 East Ave. in Livermore.
Collections will also occur from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the LARPD Youth Services Office located at 71 Trevarno Road in Livermore.
Get a Forkful
The Pleasanton Downtown Association’s annual Forkful Culinary Stroll is coming back to Main Street this Saturday.
Attendees will receive their own “Pleasanton Passport” before heading off to enjoy mouthwatering bites, beverages and more at almost a dozen participating restaurants around downtown Pleasanton.
Guests who gather stamps from every participating spot can also cast a vote for “Chef’s Best Bite”. Doing so enters them into a raffle for a chance to win a free stay at downtown’s The Rose Hotel.
The event is set to run from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 12). Attendees will be asked to start their night at the Museum on Main in downtown. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.pleasantondowntown.net.
