Our team is proud to announce that we are hosting 11 election forum events throughout the Tri-Valley to help our loyal readers and voters at-large get to know their local candidates and become better informed before casting their ballots.
The series is our most ambitious to date – if you consider we separate out mayoral and council candidates to speak at different times on the same night, we’re actually presenting 14 individual forums in all. And for the first time ever, we’ve added Livermore Area Recreation and Park District and Sunol Glen Unified School District into the mix.
We have invited every single eligible candidate to participate. Many RSVP’d enthusiastically within hours. We are still awaiting responses from a few others, but it’s hard to believe any legitimate candidate would pass on the opportunity to speak directly to voters and respond to their competitors in a public setting like our award-winning forums provide.
Ten events will be held in-person at a venue easily accessible to the community; the other will be virtual forums held via Zoom livestream. And every event will be video-recorded and posted to YouTube and our websites after the fact so voters can watch them all the way through Election Day.
The forums will be moderated primarily by our associate publisher / editorial director Jeremy Walsh and publisher Gina Channell Wilcox – although our new editor, who is set to start at the end of the month, and our reporters may participate as needed too.
These events are such an important part of our election coverage strategy at Embarcadero Media Foundation’s East Bay Division – the Pleasanton Weekly, Livermore Vine and DanvilleSanRamon.com. We know Tri-Valley residents have come to count on these debates every two years to help them decide their votes.
Thank you to our partners at the Chambers of Commerce in Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore Valley, San Ramon and the Danville Area and Livermore Indivisible, as well as organizations helping with venues, audio-visual support, publicity and other logistics.
