The opioid epidemic doesn’t discriminate; it affects people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. The crisis dates back to the late 1990s, when opioids were widely prescribed as pain medication following surgeries, unknowingly setting off a chain of addiction. While everyone’s story looks different, they are all connected by the same epidemic.
This video was produced as part of a program to educate youth and others about Alameda County’s opioid crisis, prevention and treatment options. The program is funded by the Alameda County Behavioral Health Department and the grant is administered by Three Valleys Community Foundation.
