Excitement is building in the Tri-Valley as Grammy Award winner Lyle Lovett is set to perform next weekend as the headliner for Livermore Valley Arts’ main fundraiser, “Opening Night at the Bankhead”.

The event next Saturday (Aug. 29) features the Lovett concert inside the Bankhead Theater, along with live and silent auctions, food and drinks and an after party with music by Matt Axton & Badmoon – all in the name of raising critical funds for LVA’s entertainment and arts education programming for its 2026-27 season and beyond.

“I am so thrilled to bring Lyle Lovett to the intimate Bankhead Theater for our opening night of the season,” Livermore Valley Arts CEO Chris Carter told the Pleasanton Weekly on Monday.

“The team at the Bankhead really knows how to throw a party, and there will be a lot more to the evening in addition to the concert that will make it one of the most memorable events in recent Livermore history,” Carter added. “All the proceeds go towards supporting Arts programs in our community throughout the entire year. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate and support the Arts in the Tri-Valley.”

Introducing a new concept for its 20th season kickoff fundraiser, “Opening Night at the Bankhead” will include a glass of bubbly or cocktail, passed appetizers and silent auction at the welcome, a plated paella dinner to take inside the theater, a raffle, a live auction and the concert starring singer-songwriter-actor Lovett.

Desserts will be served at intermission. LVA will also be promoting its Fund-a-Need initiative supporting local arts education outreach programs.

The after party will include a no-host bar, a nacho bar and gourmet ice cream sandwiches outside in Bankhead Plaza under the summer evening sky in downtown Livermore, with live music from Matt Axton & Badmoon.

While the event is listed as “selling fast” on the LVA website, a select number of tickets remain available. Doors open for regular ticket holders at 5 p.m., with VIP entrance at 4:30 p.m. Learn more at livermorearts.org.
