The city of Livermore published a statement this week reaffirming its commitment to inclusion and respect for all community members.
This reminder comes amid a national effort to end diversity, equity and inclusion policies and programs within the federal government, as stated on the White House website.
“Livermore’s strength is rooted in its diversity, inclusiveness, and the shared commitment of its community members to respect and support one another,” according to the statement. “We will continue working alongside our community partners to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and ensure that the Livermore community feels safe and supported.”
It adds, “The City of Livermore stands against fear, discrimination, and intolerance in all forms.”
Since being posted on Facebook and X, the announcement has garnered over 700 likes.
Also included in the message was a reminder of the city’s vision, mission and values which involves creating a safe, healthy, welcoming environment while adhering to ethical standards of fairness, honesty, and equitable treatment in the performance of its duties.
“Livermore is a community where all people are valued and treated with dignity. We will not waver in our commitment to fostering a welcoming city for all,” Mayor John Marchand said in the statement.
