Livermore readies for Community Service Day

The city of Livermore along with the school and park districts are gearing up to host Community Service Day next Saturday (May 4). 

The annual day of service encourages the community to get out and volunteer their time and efforts to beautify the city and make a difference. 

This year, Livermore is seeking over 800 volunteers to help out at more than 30 sites. The majority of the projects don’t require any special skills other than a willingness to pitch in where needed and a desire to make a positive and lasting impact in the community, city officials said in an announcement about the event. 

Following individual service events, all volunteers/donors are invited to Las Positas College for a celebratory festival that will include a Volunteer Opportunities Fair along with complimentary lunch – prepared and provided by the Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters Foundation and US Foods –  and entertainment by local band Crawdad Republic.

New this year is the introduction of collection drives, which will be accepting donations at various locations on May 3 and 4. 

Friday, May 3 (Day before Community Service Day)

• City Serve of the Tri-Valley (3311 Pacific Ave.) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.:
  • Needs: Non-perishable pre-packaged snacks, bottled water, sunscreen, sun caps, cooling towels, paper bowls and plates, plastic forks and spoons

Saturday, May 4 (Community Service Day)

• Tri-Valley Haven (3663 Pacific Ave.) from 8 a.m.-noon
  • Needs: Toilet paper and paper towels

• Las Positas College Veterans Program (Volunteer Fair – 3000 Campus Hill Drive – Parking Lot “P”) from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
  • Needs: Diapers (any size), baby wipes and baby/infant toys

• Shepherd’s Gate (Volunteer Fair – 3000 Campus Hill Drive – Parking Lot “P”) from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
  • Needs: Chips and popcorn, fruit cups and pudding cups, jam, Otter Pops, graham crackers, cookies, Goldfish Crackers and Cheez-Its, juice boxes/Capri Suns, bottled water, children’s sunscreen

• San Francisco Premium Outlets collecting for Open Heart Kitchen (2774 Livermore Outlets Drive – North parking lot near Tesla chargers) from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Needs: Non-perishable food items only
