Sutter Health patients can now seek primary care and select specialty services at the organization’s new facility in Livermore, following its opening this week.

Located at 7683 Southfront Road, the new site offers internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics as well as labs and imaging services such as X-rays and mammograms.

This location can accommodate the care of hundreds of patients on a daily basis. It does not offer emergency services or urgent care.

Upon opening on Monday (June 23), the Livermore care center joins a collection of other Sutter Health locations in the East Bay including sites in Dublin, Danville, Fremont and Castro Valley. On a wider scale, the facility is just one of over 25 ambulatory care centers that Sutter Health is set to open in the coming years throughout the Bay Area and Central Valley.

“Our Livermore care center will integrate seamlessly with our other nearby locations,” said Teresa Sarlitto, Sutter Health’s vice president of ambulatory operations and facilities planning in the greater Silicon Valley division. ”By having us in this area, it really ensures smooth referrals among these locations if any additional follow-up care or more specialized services are needed.”

About two years ago, Sutter Health embarked on a multi-million dollar renovation project to create the care center in Livermore, according to Sutter Health program manager of external communications Jerome Hubbard.

The expansion to Livermore follows expressed need by local residents for more convenient, quality healthcare, Sarlitto said.

“Sutter Health is super excited to come into Livermore,” Sarlitto said. “The expansion is really going to help with the overall healthcare access in Livermore.”

The new clinic increases accessibility because it reduces travel time for patients and eases the pressure on surrounding facilities, she explained.

In the wider Bay Area and Central Valley, Sutter Health is also looking to open over two dozen facilities in the coming years.

“Sutter Health has broad expansion plans and this new care center truly fits right into what the Sutter Health organization is doing for our patients,” Sarlitto said.

In Livermore, the team consists of upwards of 30 people at a time including primary care doctors, nurses, technicians, patient service representatives and housekeeping.

Some of the staff are transitioning from other Sutter Health locations while others are new hires, according to Sutter Health director of administration Erin Chin.

On opening-day Monday, patients may have noticed areas of the waiting room specifically designed for children and nursing parents.

On one side of the room is a short table and chair for kids and on the other, a half-wall affording privacy for nursing. Between the two are tall chairs designed for patients who have hip-related health issues.

“We really want to make sure that we are providing the type of services we can for all of our patients, with all different types of health issues,” director of regional operations at Sutter Health David Villanueva said during an exclusive tour of the facility prior to its opening.

Also primed for families is the on-site mother’s room, a space intended for nursing mothers seeking privacy or medical consultation.

Elsewhere are radiology services, where patients can receive X-rays and mammograms.

The facility’s offerings are about continuity of care, Villanueva explained. This means seeing one’s provider and getting labs done without needing to leave the site.

Recalling the site’s renovation process, Villanueva said the outcome is outstanding.

“August of 2024, I saw this place still gutted, nothing but wires and open ceilings,” Villanueva said. “It’s just amazing to see it come to fruition and seeing the details and the colors and the openness.”
