The Livermore Public Library is gearing up to host a celebration of Korean culture, offering an afternoon of immersive experiences, live performances, and authentic cuisine.

The annual Korean Cultural Festival is scheduled to take place Saturday (April 13) at the Civic Center branch from 1-3 p.m. This event, held in partnership with the Korean-American Parent Association, aims to showcase the richness and diversity of Korean traditions to the local community.

“This organization provides a variety of educational information to help Korean students growing up in Northern California take advantage of the local education system,” said KPA representatives. “As parents, our goal is to actively support Korean students’ academics, extracurricular activities, and volunteer activities so that their children can have opportunities to actively participate in education.”

One of the highlights of the festival will be a performance by the Tri-Valley Youth Orchestra and Choir. The Mach Martial Arts Taekwondo Team is also expected to show off their skills through demonstrating the artistry of taekwondo.

A Hanbok Fashion Show will highlight traditional Korean attire.

Attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Korean culture through a variety of activities and experiences including authentic Korean cuisine and participating in cultural craft activities such as creating Cheongsa lanterns and making norigaes.

“We seek to develop as a volunteer organization that preserves and honors traditional Korean culture. The Korean cultural festival is a way for us to celebrate the art, music and food within our community,” KPA reps added. “We hope the community can enjoy our culture and learn about Korean history.”

Throughout the festival, displays will be set up to showcase various aspects of Korean culture and tradition. From artifacts to significant history, these exhibitions will offer an overview of Korean heritage.
