Local housing support nonprofit Tri-Valley REACH held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce last week to celebrate its new logo design — a rebrand that representatives emphasize does not change their main focus or overall mission.
Tri-Valley REACH aims to create and advocate for affordable, safe and local housing opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
The organization, founded in 1990, also provides resources, activities and events for I/DD adults in the area.
"Although our logo has undergone transformation, we eagerly anticipate showcasing the meaningful work we continue to undertake within the community," said Kay King, REACH board chair. "The updated logo symbolizes the heart of a home, where the collaborative efforts of board members, volunteers, local officials and generous donors, all of whom contribute to building a community, are represented."
In a press release after the ceremony, King expressed how important reliable and safe housing is for I/DD communities.
"A safe, accessible, and inclusive home is the foundation that nurtures confidence. At REACH, we firmly believe housing is the key to independence," King said. "In order to address the increasing need for affordable housing for individuals with I/DD in the Tri-Valley, the rental fees at REACH properties are determined based on income, with rates as low as $350 per month."
"This key mission focus enables these individuals with I/DD the ability to attain independent living, even if they have a significantly low income," she added.
REACH staff and community supporters, including Pleasanton city leaders, attended the social to celebrate the new emblem on June 22. Pleasanton Vice Mayor Jack Balch was present at the ceremony and gave remarks on the organization's mission and work in the community.
"We need to take care of everyone in our community. We know affordability of housing is a huge challenge, not only in Pleasanton, but the Tri-Valley and beyond," Balch said. "On behalf of the city of Pleasanton, we thank Tri-Valley REACH for the work they are doing in the space and partnership."
The nonprofit is also preparing to host its yearly benefit gala, REACH for Your Dreams, on Sept. 14. The event raises funds for essential services REACH provides and creates an opportunity for community members to connect.
