Livermore Airport Commissioner David Farley is campaigning for Livermore City Council District 3, representing the southeast part of the city.
He prioritizes advancing clean energy and electrification of industries, maintaining public safety, promoting high-tech small businesses, fiscal responsibility and housing development inclusive to low-income families without breaking the urban growth boundary.
“I have strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of clean energy & emerging technologies, business acumen, and significant community involvement,” Farley said. “I believe my background and proven capabilities would be of great benefit to the City of Livermore.”
Farley is one of three candidates in competition for the District 3 seat. Without incumbent Brittni Kiick in the race, Farley’s opponents are Jeff Kaskey (business owner and CEO) and Steven Dunbar (engineering supervisor and city planning commissioner).
In addition to Farley’s current role as a Livermore Airport Commissioner, he has also served as a Naval Officer, an entrepreneur, a business owner and a scientist and policy researcher for the national labs.
With 10 years of leadership in worldwide clean energy projects, he says he’s prepared to take on the challenge of climate change.
“Addressing climate change is a key priority of Livermore, and I am amply prepared and ready to lead on a path forward for clean energy and electrification of industries,” Farley said on his campaign website.
In terms of housing, he has developed a plan that involved opening new communities intended for “empty nesters.” In turn, this would open large single-family homes to new buyers and boost the local construction industry.
“Even if my ‘empty nester’ idea ultimately never materializes, at least I’m thinking outside the box, offering my ideas to the planning commission, and willing to push forward on such concepts as a council member,” he told Livermore Vine.
Outside of work, he has been involved in the community as a coach and mentor of Granada High School’s girls’ lacrosse and an active volunteer at the former Livermore Charter School.
