Longtime educator and administrator Jessica Bonduris has been named Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District’s new assistant superintendent of human resources starting next Tuesday, district officials announced last week.
Transitioning to the Livermore district from her current role as interim director of categorical and special projects with the Berkeley Unified School District, Bonduris is on track to succeed Amy Robbins, whose forthcoming resignation was made public at the Board of Education’s June 10 meeting.
In Bonduris’ new role at LVJUSD, she will serve as a leader on the district’s negotiations team, oversee staffing to ensure alignment with contractual ratios and budget priorities and lead the human resources department in supporting nearly 1,500 employees across the district, the announcement states.
“We are fortunate to have Dr. Bonduris joining our team,” LVJUSD Superintendent Torie Gibson said in a statement. “Her leadership in personnel management, combined with her extensive experience at both the district and county levels, will be instrumental in supporting and strengthening our human resources operations. Her insight and expertise will be a tremendous asset to our staff and entire district.”
Throughout her career, Bonduris has accumulated nearly two decades of experience in educational leadership at the district and county levels, according to the statement. Most recently, Bonduris’ experience includes serving as an interim director of state and federal programs as well as an associate superintendent at the county-level. Previously, she worked as a teacher and principal.
Her appointment was officially announced during the June 17 board meeting, following a “comprehensive and competitive selection process” that included input from an 18-person panel of district leaders, school administrators, union leaders and school board members, according to the announcement.
“In service of the students, families, and staff of LVJUSD, I am honored to join a district deeply committed to educational excellence and equity,” Bonduris said in a statement.
“As assistant superintendent of human resources, I am committed to collaboratively supporting and retaining exceptional employees at every level, fostering strong partnerships with our labor leaders and upholding transparent, equitable practices,” Bonduris added. “My goal is to cultivate a thriving organizational culture where every staff member feels respected and valued — because when we invest in our people, we invest in our students.”
Bonduris holds a bachelor’s degree and a teaching credential from the University of Wisconsin, a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction from Saint Mary’s University in Minneapolis and a doctorate in educational leadership from Mills College in Oakland.
Her employment contract is set for presentation to the board for approval at its next regular meeting, scheduled to take place Aug. 12.
