The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District’s assistant superintendent of human resources Amy Robbins is leaving her post Aug. 31, after serving less than a year in the role.

Notice of her exit was published in the LVJUSD Board of Education June 10 meeting agenda.

The district is currently seeking to fill the cabinet position and is scheduled to hold interviews for the role this week, according to district spokesperson Michelle Dawson.

“Amy Robbins has been an exceptional member of our leadership team and a dedicated employee of LVJUSD,” district Superintendent Torie Gibson told Livermore Vine. “Her contributions to our district over the years have been deeply valued. While we are sad to see her go, we wish her nothing but the very best in her next chapter.”

Robbins first joined the district in 2002, where she went on to serve as a classroom teacher, teacher on special assignment, vice principal, principal, director of curriculum and special projects in addition to leadership positions within human resources.

She later left the district to become the director of college and career readiness with the Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program, serving LVJUSD and nearby districts.

In July 2022, she returned to LVJUSD as the executive director of human resources. Then in January 2025, Robbins was promoted to her current role in the cabinet, she said.

“Throughout my tenure, my focus has remained consistent: improving outcomes for students and staff by strengthening instructional practices, supporting educator growth, and fostering collaborative partnerships throughout the community,” Robbins said.

The assistant superintendent of human resources position was posted online and has since closed, with interviews scheduled for the end of this week, according to Dawson.

“While stepping away from my role with LVJUSD, I am committed to supporting during this time of transition. I remain deeply connected to this community and wish the district continued success,” Robbins said.

“Looking ahead, I am seeking new opportunities to continue making a positive impact in education,” she added.

The remaining assistant superintendents will include Kayla Wasley of business services, Michelle Pechette of educational services and Kelly Manke of special education. Except for Manke, who was promoted to her role in 2022, the other assistant superintendents joined the cabinet after Gibson took the district helm in July 2024.

“As for the newer make-up of the LVJUSD cabinet, all bring a wealth of educational leadership experience from previous roles and districts,” Dawson said. “As with any change, we remain focused on building strong relationships and trust, and collaborating to set clear goals that will lead us towards long term success.”
