Tri-Valley nonprofit Sunflower Hill is gearing up for its annual marquee fundraiser, a dinner and celebration event this fall that will help plant the seeds for the organization’s activities and accomplishments during the next year.
Branded this year with a Hollywood award show theme, the “Roll Out the Red Carpet Gala” has been scheduled for Oct. 3 in The Club at Castlewood nestled among Pleasanton’s western ridgeline.
“We are incredibly grateful to our amazing community of donors and supporters whose generosity fuels our mission every day,” said Jennifer Oxe, development director for Sunflower Hill. “This is our biggest event of the year, and we are excited to celebrate.”
The “unforgettable night of glamor” will feature a red-carpet arrival, paparazzi-style photos, a gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions, a keynote message from Sunflower Hill board member John Lengyl and VIP interviews by Kari Hall, NBC Bay Area meteorologist and autism advocate, according to organizers.
Money raised will help Sunflower Hill in its ongoing efforts “dedicated to creating ‘places and spaces’ where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities can live, learn, work and thrive”, according to the nonprofit.
In addition to ongoing activities at its Sunflower Hill at Irby Ranch residential community in Pleasanton and Sunflower Hill Garden at Hagemann Ranch in Livermore, the organization has been focused this year on advancing its new housing development with 48 affordable units in Lafayette as well as its two projects in Dublin – 20 set-aside units at Francis Ranch and 60 affordable apartments at Grace Pointe.
The nonprofit also recently wrapped up its summer camps that saw about 60 adults and teens with I/DD participate, led the distribution of $500,000 in Alameda County Measure W housing funds and installed two new shade structures at the garden thanks to funding from the city and Rotarian Foundation in Livermore.
