TVNPA award noms
The Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance is currently accepting nominations for its 2026 Power of Giving Impact Maker Awards, which recognize the contributions of nonprofits, individuals and corporations who make a meaningful difference in the Tri-Valley.
“We invite you to nominate the people and organizations whose philanthropic work, leadership, and community impact deserve to be celebrated,” TVNPA states on its website. “Whether it’s a grassroots nonprofit, an inspiring changemaker, or a business leading with purpose, help us shine a light on their achievements.”
Nominations will be accepted until Aug. 14. Honorees will be revealed during the Power of Giving Celebration on Nov. 12 at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore.

School supply drive
The Livermore Police Department is hosting a donation drive through early August to collect school supplies for local students and teachers.
Dubbed Stuff the Cruiser, LPD seeks new items such as notebooks, paper, dividers, folders, binders, mechanical pencils, colored pencils, rulers, erasers, staplers, post-its, disinfectant wipes, tissue boxes and flash drives.
Donors can help stuff a police cruiser with items from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 1) outside of the Walmart located at 2700 Las Positas Rd. Otherwise, supplies can be dropped off until Monday (Aug. 3) in the front lobby of the police department at 1110 S. Livermore Ave.
LPD is also accepting Amazon gift cards through its Community Outreach Unit at CommunityOutreach@livermoreca.gov.
BBQ fundraiser
The Pleasanton Community of Character Collaborative will be hosting its seventh annual barbecue and auction fundraising event next month, which raises money for the Juanita Haugen Memorial Scholarship fund.
The fund honors the legacy of Haugen, a former school board trustee, by recognizing several Pleasanton Unified School District high schoolers for their “exceptional character traits and community volunteerism”.
According to a flyer for the event, the fundraiser is set to start at 5 p.m. next Saturday (Aug. 8). Food, drinks and live entertainment will all be provided.
