A page in Bishop Ranch history turned this summer when two high-end boutiques that have been at City Center since its inception shut their doors, marking the end of a fashion era that was bolstered by a major name in the modeling world.
Sunset Development officials confirmed this week that M by Maggie Rizer – a model who is married to the development company’s CEO, Alex Mehran Jr. – and its counterpart men’s store Trader have exited the adjacent spaces downstairs that they had occupied since the San Ramon shopping center’s debut in 2018.
“We are incredibly grateful to the many brand partners, buyers, vendors, customers, and friends who supported us throughout the years,” M and Trader staff said in an automated email following the closures.
Jeff Dodd, senior vice president of retail for Sunset Development, acknowledged the stores’ departures as a shift that is “continuing the evolution of the retail lineup at City Center Bishop Ranch”.
“Since opening alongside the launch of City Center, the boutiques — founded by Alex Mehran Jr. and Maggie Rizer — have played an important role in shaping the retail experience and helping establish the center’s distinctive mix of shops and brands,” Dodd said.
The space is now set to serve as an expansion for the contemporary women’s fashion shop Aly’s Grace, which is poised to move into the former storefronts, according to Dodd.
