Good News Bears needs storage help
Good News Bears, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity dedicated to sharing that kind of comfort with children and families in moments of crisis, is seeking donated or low-cost storage space as it prepares to lose its current space on Dec. 31, 2026.
Since regaining momentum after the pandemic shutdown, Good News Bears has continued rebuilding its warm circle of donors, volunteers and community partners. The organization collects, stores, sorts and prepares stuffed animals that are gifted through first responders, medical agencies and social services organizations
To keep this work moving forward, Good News Bears is asking local businesses, property owners, houses of worship, civic groups or community partners to consider offering storage and sorting space.
The charity needs at least 400 square feet of clean, dry space, with access during evenings and weekends so volunteers can receive donations, organize inventory and prepare the bears and other stuffed animals with care before they are shared. Livermore or Pleasanton areas.
The organization is especially interested in space that is secure, easily accessible and suitable for volunteer sorting sessions. Community members who know of available space or who can help connect Good News Bears with a potential host are encouraged to reach out as soon as possible.

Strum and Hum
My name is Anvesha Tiwari, and I am a freshman at Foothill High School. Recently, I started a music education workshop called Strum and Hum that covers the foundations of guitar, vocals and Hindustani Classical singing.
This workshop is focused on training students towards confident performance skills. Strum and Hum will allow kids to learn about music and share their talents with community partners.
I am interested in helping children learn the basics of music, instilling confidence within them, and providing them a platform where they can express themselves through performance.
This project is directed toward the East Bay Tri-Valley community and provides children the opportunity to take in-person or virtual classes. We are already gearing up for our first performance at a community senior center, and are thrilled to showcase our students.

Class of 1976 reunion
The Granada High School class of 1976 will celebrate their 50-year reunion on Sept. 25-26. Events open to alumni and their guests.
Friday, Sept. 25 at 5 p.m. the fun begins at the annual Alumni BBQ held on the GHS campus at the Alumni Plaza in front of the football stadium. There is a $5 donation requested by the GHS Alumni Association. The varsity football game begins at 7.30 p.m.
We will be gathering after the barbecue at a pop-up location in downtown Livermore for more pictures, chatting and catching up. We will announce this location via email and Facebook two weeks before the event.
On Saturday morning, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m., we will be meeting at the front steps of the GHS campus entrance for a group photo. Following the picture there will be a 90-minute campus tour which begins at 10.30 a.m.
To memorialize our history, we have chosen a backdrop of the Livermore Hills and our downtown for the main event on Saturday night at Azotea Cocina and Cocktail Roof Top Bar at 2470 First St., Livermore from 5:30-8:30 pm. Cost is $100 per person, which includes a buffet dinner (no-host bar available) and as many photos as your heart desires at our photo booth area.
The committee has blocked rooms in Livermore at the Hilton Garden Inn. Please reserve by calling 925-292-2000 and mention “GHS Reunion – Class of 1976” for discounted rate. Do not miss this opportunity to celebrate each other and a chance to make new memories.
