The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has identified the man who died last Tuesday after a head-on collision on Dublin Boulevard as 54-year-old Dublin resident Steven Bai Ang Sun.

The two-vehicle crash occurred about 8:37 a.m. Oct. 20. Authorities said a Rivian SUV was traveling on the boulevard west of Silvergate Drive when it collided with an eastbound Hyundai Sonata driven by Sun.  The impact of the crash sent both cars off the roadway and caused them to overturn before coming to rest along the north shoulder of westbound Interstate 580.

Dublin Police Services responded about 8:54 a.m. after the California Highway Patrol alerted officers to the accident.

Both drivers were injured and taken to a local hospital, where Sun died about 2:02 p.m. that day, police said. The driver of the other vehicle was treated and released. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Police said neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been factors in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Dublin police Sgt. William Chase at 925-833-6670.
