The Foothill High boys’ volleyball team capped an amazing week by winning the top level of the Stockton Classic.

The tournament win was the Falcons’ first regular season tournament win since 2014.

But before getting to the weekend and the tournament, the Falcons won a pair of big East Bay Athletic League games.

They opened the week with a 17-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-23 win over Amador Valley. The highlights came from Josh Salonga (25 assists, 15 digs, 8 kills), Dean Caudill (15 kills, 13 digs), Cam Hitchan (9 kills, 1 block) and Caleb Lai (15 digs).

Two days later the Falcons took down Granada, also in four sets, winning 25-21, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23. This time the highlights came from Thomas Paduraru (11 kills, 10 blocks), Salonga (28 assists, 7 kills, 5 blocks) and Lai (16 service points, 15 digs).

In Stockton, the Falcons beat Ripon Christian (2-0) and River Valley (2-1) in pool play, then beat Monterey Tail (2-0) in the semifinals.

In the championship Foothill beat Folsom — the top seed — 2-0 to win the title.

Foothill coach Dusty Collins had high praise for the players mentioned above.

Last week the Falcons started the week with a 15-3 win over Dublin. Becker had three goals to lead the way, Darrin Lau and Nico Lau had two goals each. Karter Williams, Grady DeMichiel, Avery Fink, Micha Canales and Graham Nelson each had one goal.

The week ended with a 5-4 loss to Granada. Morgan was strong in the goal with 10 saves. DeMichiel (2), Becker and Ethan Lam got the goals for the Falcons.

Earlier this season, the Falcons honored longtime announcer Bob Gee (11 years). Gee passed away in the fall and was honored by a moment of silence.
