The Amador Valley girls’ soccer team won a pair of games last week to claim the East Bay Athletic League regular season title.

The Dons opened the week with a 2-0 win over Livermore with Angel Akanyirige and Maylen Montoya getting the goals.

The Amador defense held up against the added pressure to preserve the clean sheet in the win. Sophomore Claire Morgan had a great game holding down the midfield.

In the second game of the week, the Dons got a 2-0 win over crosstown rival Foothill.

The two sides fought to a scoreless first half thanks in large part to Foothill goalie Jillian Barth. About midway through the second half, the Dons got their two goals.

Alden Hofstede took an assist from Montoya near midfield and carried the ball down to beat the keeper. Moments later, Kaia Hoyman’s shot bounced off the far post right to Montoya who put the ball – and the game – away.

The Amador defense was amazing again, this time behind the play of Julia Wanis, Hailey Morec, Kailee Walker, Hoyman and Sydney Stimson. Karson Knuth and Ava Haviley stopped everything that came near them in the defensive midfield.

In the last week of the season, the Amador varsity side beat Livermore 2-0 and lost to Foothill 5-2.

In the first 30 seconds of the Livermore game, Max Couper sent a pass to Henry Beatty, who in turn got it to Nader Hanna for the finish.

With two minutes left in the game, Isaac Hilton scored a header off a corner from Anish Dhakal. Lucas Cimas earned player of the game honors for his defensive and offensive contributions.

In the Foothill game, the Falcons took a 1-0 lead before Amador equalized with a Colin Braga goal off a Hilton assist. Beatty made it 2-1 Amador, but the Falcons scored four unanswered goals.

In JV action, the Dons started the week with a 0-0 draw with Livermore. Zander Hoberg got the shutout in the goal for Amador.

They ended the season with another 0-0 final, this one against Foothill. Santiago Rodriguez Torres was honored as player of the game for his outstanding play.

The Amador freshman team had a good week, beating Las Lomas 3-0 and then ending the season with a 3-0 win against Foothill.

Against Las Lomas, Ekansh Samanta had a pair of goals and was selected as player of the game.

In the win against Foothill, Amador got goals from Samanta, Cole Kikuchi and Muhriz Munir. Matthew Sun was selected player of the game as his aggressive pressing created turnovers that led to two of the three goals.
