Livermore police arrested an Oakley man they believe shot someone last month during a case of road rage.

The shooting occurred just before 5 p.m. on March 11 near North Vasco Road and Dalton Avenue.

Officers found the victim with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and is currently recovering, police said Thursday.

Detectives identified 26-year-old Demarionte Smith as the suspect.

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, police arrested Smith on April 1 in Seattle. Police said he’s been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Investigators believe Smith fled to Seattle to stay with family. He’s currently awaiting extradition back to California.
