Livermore officers arrested an Oakland man last week after allegedly finding a loaded gun, fentanyl and cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to police.

Just after 10 p.m. Friday, an officer stopped the driver of a BMW SUV near Vasco Road and Northfront Road for an alleged traffic violation. During the stop, the officer noticed items inside the vehicle which were consistent with drug sales, police said in a statement on social media on Monday.

K9 Officer “Drake” was called to assist and the police dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs. Police searched the vehicle and allegedly found a loaded 9mm handgun, approximately three ounces of cocaine, fentanyl, and prescription pills.

Police arrested him on suspicion of multiple gun and drug-related charges and he was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

The 48-year-old driver was a convicted felon and not legally allowed to have firearms, according to police.
