The city of Livermore is scheduled to host a drop-in informational event on Wednesday regarding the proposed Pacific and Livermore Townhomes project.
Planned for the corner of Pacific Avenue and South Livermore Avenue, the project would replace the Livermore Town Center shopping plaza with townhomes and associated amenities.
Including an adjacent vacant lot along South Livermore Avenue, the development would feature 15 residential buildings for a total of 115 two- and three-story townhomes. Across the approximately 6.5-acre site, there would also be 26,050 square feet of open space and 55,200 square feet of landscaping.
Details on the proposed project’s demolition process, the type of units proposed, architecture, amenities, landscaping, circulation and a timeline for the entitlement and building permit process will be provided at the upcoming meeting, according to city of Livermore spokesperson Stephanie Egidio.
Event participants are set to include representatives from San Jose-based Swenson Development and Construction, the environmental consultant and city staff.
“Attendees will have an opportunity to ask their questions directly to the developer and staff in a small group setting,” Egidio said.
Prior to the open-house, the Livermore Planning Commission considered the scope of the proposed project’s environmental impact report at their March 18 meeting.
During the meeting, commissioners recommended that the EIR incorporate the potential economic or transit-related impacts of demolishing the shopping center, the possibility of a small market in the area, the potential blockage of sunlight to neighboring solar systems and potential glare due to the townhomes.
At that meeting, all nine public commenters expressed concerns about the development including potential noise, dust, pests, hazardous material, blockage of views and sunlight, insufficient parking as well as a loss of privacy and commercial space.
The community meeting is scheduled to run from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday (May 14) at the William H. Mendenhall Community Room of the Civic Center Meeting Hall. The meeting will not be recorded.
