Oakland-born Zachary’s Chicago Pizza is slated to establish its second Tri-Valley restaurant by moving into downtown Livermore later this year, company officials confirmed to Livermore Vine.

Best known for its deep-dish and stuffed Chicago-style pies, the award-winning restaurant currently serves pizza at its five locations across the East Bay, including Oakland, Berkeley, Pleasant Hill and downtown Pleasanton.
Its upcoming pizzeria in Livermore will occupy the former location of Patxi’s Pizza on First Street, which shuttered last summer.
“We’re very excited about the opportunity to open a new Zachary’s in downtown Livermore,” Zachary’s chief operating officer and employee-owner Leandra Schuler told Livermore Vine. “It’s a vibrant community, cool downtown and a great location for us to share what we love doing … making great pizzas and serving our communities.”
Zachary’s first opened its doors in 1983 at a 900-square foot restaurant in Oakland, according to the company’s website. Just over a year later, co-founders Zach Zachowski and Barbara Gabel established a second location in Berkeley. Over the following decades, the chain expanded to its current reach across the Bay Area.

Zachary’s later became 100% employee-owned in 2010 and most recently, relocated its San Ramon location to downtown Pleasanton in 2021.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Zachary’s Pizza to our vibrant Livermore business community,” Livermore city spokesperson Sonia Lee said. “They’re not just joining our fantastic array of local restaurants; they’re contributing even more flavor and food options to the heart of our bustling downtown, continuing to make it a place where everyone wants to be.”
Zachary’s Chicago Pizza in Livermore will be located at 2470 First St., Suite. 104.
