The Alameda County Public Works Agency announced Friday that a portion of Tesla Road in unincorporated Livermore was reduced to one lane total indefinitely due to an active landslide detected in the area.

The westbound lane of Tesla Road at mile marker 9.5 has been closed for precautionary reasons, according to county officials. As a result, a two-way traffic control system has been implemented for both directions to use the eastbound lane until crews clear the westbound lane to reopen.

"Motorists traveling through this area are urged to exercise caution and strictly adhere to all traffic control directives," county officials said. "We strongly recommend that the public avoid this section of Tesla Road, if possible. Limiting traffic near the landslide site is crucial for the effectiveness of our safety efforts and aids in expediting the resolution of this issue."

The lane closure is in the same area where Tesla Road was fully closed for weeks in the spring due to erosion following winter storms.
