Authorities on Wednesday confirmed the identity of a man who died in a head-on collision along North Vasco Road just outside the Livermore city limits last week.
The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau identified the decedent as 28-year-old Chad Flores. A GoFundMe created online to support Flores' family describes the late Brentwood man as "an incredible boyfriend, father, son and brother" who is survived by his girlfriend and his young daughter.
The deadly crash occurred around 3:40 a.m. Oct. 6 when a white Honda Civic driven by Flores southbound on North Vasco Road, north of Dalton Avenue in unincorporated Livermore, moved into the oncoming northbound lane for unknown reasons, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Civic then collided head-on into a black Honda Accord driven by a 28-year-old Livermore man traveling in the northbound direction, the CHP reported.
The Brentwood man died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
The Livermore driver, whose name has not been released publicly, was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with major injuries, according to the CHP.
The circumstances of the crash remain under CHP investigation. "Due to the parties' injuries, speeds and other statements have not been gathered at this time. Alcohol does not seem to be a factor in this crash," the CHP reported at the time.
