The Livermore school district ended last fiscal year with just over $25 million in total funds, marking a net loss but also a multimillion-dollar improvement over previous estimates, according to unaudited actual financial reports set for presentation at the board’s Tuesday meeting.
The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District’s ending fund balance includes about $12.8 million in unrestricted dollars and about $12.3 in restricted funds, according to the meeting agenda.
Its unrestricted funds include a mandatory 3% reserve ($6,532,281), the agenda states.
LVJUSD saw a net general fund decrease of about $1.3 million for 2025-26, less significant than the previously estimated decrease of about $9.3 million. The difference is mostly due to savings in restricted programs, according to a slideshow set for presentation at the meeting.
“LVJUSD ends 2025-26 in a resilient financial position,” the presentation states. “The accumulated reserves, combined with the new revenues in 2026-27, position the district to absorb incoming fiscal challenges without disrupting classroom services.”
The board is set to approve unaudited actual financial reports at the meeting for filing with the Alameda County Office of Education same-day, as required by the state. The reports will also be submitted to the district auditor for its review and inclusion in the district’s audit for 2025-26.
The LVJUSD board meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 15). The agenda is available here.

The board is set to hold a state-mandated public hearing on whether all students have access to standards-aligned textbooks and materials for the 2026-27 school year for use in the classroom and at home.
LVJUSD students have sufficient materials in compliance with the Education Code, according to the agenda.
As such, the board is poised to adopt a resolution certifying LVJUSD has met all requirements regarding student materials.
