The Livermore school board is slated at Tuesday’s meeting to consider approving a tentative agreement between the district and a classified union regarding “me too” compensation worth a total of about $423,000 annually.
Under the tentative agreement, members of the Service Employees International Union Local 1021— including child nutrition and maintenance workers — are set to see a 2% increase to their salary schedule and a $2,385 ongoing increase toward health and welfare benefits, both of which become effective July 1.
The additional compensation would be paid no later than November, according to the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District Board of Education agenda.
If approved, the agreement would close negotiations for the 2026-27 school year regarding SEIU pay and allowances as well as health and welfare articles just weeks after the union proposed their reopening along with five other articles.
The “me too” agreement up for board consideration follows a two-year tentative agreement between LVJUSD and the teachers union, Livermore Education Association, which received board approval Jan. 15.
SEIU already negotiated “me too” increases for the 2025-26 school year and the union is entitled to a 2026-27 “me too” increase through its collective bargaining agreement.
Ongoing costs are set to come from the general fund ($331,255) and cafeteria fund ($91,635), according to the agenda.
The school board meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The agenda is available here.
In other business
* The school board will consider accepting and approving a contract for emergency backflow replacements at five school sites, costing a total of about $81,840.
The devices failed testing at Joe Michell K-8, Junction Avenue TK-8, Rancho Elementary and Mendenhall Middle schools and the district’s Almond Avenue property, according to the agenda.
An attempt to repair the devices was unsuccessful due to the device conditions and age, the agenda states.
“To maintain water service at these sites and ensure compliance with applicable requirements, the failed backflow devices must be replaced as soon as possible,” the agenda states.
Frank Bonetti Plumbing, Inc. submitted an emergency proposal for the work costing $81,840.35.
Project funds will be pulled from the general fund’s routine restricted maintenance account, according to the agenda.
* Among the consent items, the board is set to approve memoranda of understanding regarding longevity language, professional growth language and the reduction of an accounting analyst, bond-funded position between California School Employees Association Chapter No. 334 and LVJUSD.
CSEA members voted Aug. 19 to ratify the MOUs, the agenda states.
