The Livermore school board is set at Tuesday’s regular meeting to host a public hearing on the district’s proposed budget for the 2026-27 school year.

In the proposed budget, Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District is projected to maintain the state-mandated 3% minimum reserves requirement through the 2028-29 school year.

It takes into account increases in base grants for the Local Control Funding Formula and special education, proposed in Gov. Gavin Newsom’s May budget revision, as well as the district’s final budget reductions, the report states.

The budget proposal is “initial blueprint” because the actual revenues and expenditures for the current school year are not yet known and the state budget has not yet been approved, according to the report.

After the state budget receives gubernatorial approval, due June 30, a 45-day revision of the district budget will be presented to the board to reflect any “significant changes,” the agenda states.

The board will not take action on the proposal on Tuesday. Instead, the it will return to the board for approval at its June 16 meeting, according to the agenda.

Local educational agencies must adopt a budget annually ahead of July 1 to authorize expenditures.

The regular meeting on Tuesday (June 9) is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the LVJUSD Boardroom at 685 E. Jack London Blvd. The agenda is available here.
