The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District Board of Education is set to discuss a draft handbook regarding board governance at Thursday morning’s regular meeting as well as informational reports on select school sites.
According to the agenda, a governance handbook is a guide for the board, outlining roles, responsibilities, norms and protocols that promote transparency, collaboration and accountability to ensure the board’s focus on student success and district goals.
LVJUSD has not previously adopted a formal governance handbook, the agenda states.
“This draft represents an important step toward establishing clear expectations and consistent practices for how the board and superintendent work together,” the agenda states.
Formal consideration to approve the handbook is set for Nov. 12 at the regularly scheduled evening meeting.
The draft document is set for upload prior to the meeting.
The board is also set to discuss data on Junction Avenue TK-8 School and Marylin Avenue STEAM Academy as part of an ongoing series informing the public and board about school sites in the district.
Presentations on school sites include demographics; achievements; academic, behavioral and social-emotional data; and prioritized goals and actions for the year, according to the agenda.
No decisions are set to take place regarding the school site reports.
The board is scheduled to begin their meeting at 9 a.m. on Thursday (Oct. 23). The full agenda is available here.
