The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District Board of Education is scheduled to go over the district’s unaudited actual financial reports for the 2024-25 fiscal year at Tuesday’s regular meeting.

Spanning July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, the unaudited actuals include the revenue and expenditures from each of the district funds as well as the ending fund balance. This ending balance rolls into the current fiscal year as its beginning balance.

The 2024-25 ending balance of the general fund is $26,414,109, a net decrease of $2,029,459, according to a presentation prepared for the board. Previously, the net loss in fund balance was estimated to be $13,564,200.

“It is important to recognize that any increase or decrease to the beginning balance may impact the 2025-2026 budget,” according to the agenda.

Within the ending balance of the general fund, there is an unrestricted $12,856,142 and a legally restricted $13,557,967, the agenda states. Of the unrestricted funds, $6,284,122 is designated as a 3% reserve for economic uncertainty, $287,526 accounts for revolving cash and stores inventory, $2,609,845 is assigned for future projected deficit spending and $3,305,394 is currently undesignated.

Upon approval by the board, the district’s financial reports will be submitted to the Alameda County Office of Education. Per California statute, the approved reports must be submitted to the ACOE by Sept. 15.

The reports will also be submitted to the district’s auditors for review and inclusion in the 2024-25 annual district audit.

Final audited balances are set to be reported at the December board meeting.

The LVJUSD board meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 9). The full agenda is available here

In other business:

*The board will consider ratifying the employment contract of Jessica Bonduris, LVJUSD assistant superintendent of human resources.

Previously, the board approved her employment at the June 17 board meeting. Bonduris’ effective start-date was July 1.

Per the agreement, the board may take action to extend the term of the agreement by one additional year following Bonduris’ receipt of a positive evaluation for the 2025-26 school year, according to the agenda. This provision is set to apply in each year of the agreement.

*The board will also consider approving tentative agreements with local union chapters of Service Employees International Union and California School Employees Association, according to the agenda.

SEIU represents custodians, child nutrition assistants and leads, groundskeepers and maintenance workers.

Up for consideration is a revision to the 2024-25 SEIU salary schedule to include a new advancement column, retroactive to July 1, 2024. The new step and column reflects an increase of 1.46% from the column previously at the top end of the salary schedule.

The 2025-26 SEIU salary schedule has been updated to reflect the current school year.

In addition to the salary schedules, the board will consider revisions to articles regarding pay and allowances, transfers and promotions as well as safety.

Pending board approval, the revised articles will be incorporated into the current SEIU collective bargaining agreement.

As for CSEA — representing employees including accounting analysts, data specialists, executive assistants and IT specialists — a new column of advancement was also added to the 2024-25 CSEA salary schedule. The new column represents a 3% increase above the column previously ranked most senior, retroactive to January 1, 2025.

For the 2025-26 CSEA salary schedule, the new column is set for an additional 2% increase above the column previously ranked most senior, retroactive to July 1, 2025 in order to meet the 5% difference between steps and columns on the schedule.

Pending board approval, the revisions will be incorporated into the current CSEA collective bargaining agreement and implemented accordingly.
