A community barbecue held in Livermore will bring food, family activities and cultural performances together while raising money for local service programs next month.
The Livermore Valley Rotary Club will host its second annual Community BBQ & Fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at Carnegie Park, 2155 Third St. The event is free and open to the public, with food and beverages available for purchase.
The event serves as a fundraiser designed to bring Tri-Valley residents together while supporting the Rotary Club’s charitable work. Proceeds will benefit youth programs, scholarships, community service projects, humanitarian efforts and other programs serving individuals and families in the region.
The fundraiser will include a barbeque, Maker’s Market with local vendors, children’s jump houses in the Kid Zone and live cultural performances. Mony Nop, president of the Livermore Valley Rotary Club, said this year’s event has expanded to give local vendors the opportunity to showcase and sell their products directly to the public while featuring cultural performances from local groups.
“Our goal is to bring the community together for a fun and welcoming event, one that celebrates local businesses, culture and community spirit,” Nop said.
Nop said the club is continuing its fundraising efforts to support local nonprofit organizations that help children, seniors and residents in need. One future goal is to provide more opportunities for students to attend Camp RYLA, a Rotary youth leadership camp.
Beth McCormick, the club’s fundraising chair, said the event supports Rotary’s broader mission of service.
“Every meal purchased, every donation made, and every sponsor who supports this event helps us continue Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self by investing in projects that strengthen our community and improve lives,” McCormick said.
