Totally Mimosa
Take a totally rad trip back to the 1980s in and around Main Street in Pleasanton at brunch-time this Saturday (adults of drinking age, that is) as the Pleasanton Downtown Association presents its Totally Mimosa event.
Encouraging people to wear their favorite garb of the decade, the ’80s-themed event will offer a mimosa-tasting tour of 10 stops in downtown – plus a silent disco where attendees can show off their dance moves at The Cellar Door.
Totally Mimosa will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (July 12). For tickets and more information, go to pleasantondowntown.net.
Economic Development Business Connect
Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert, along with the cities and businesses of the Tri-Valley and Fremont in Haubert’s District 1 and the East Bay Economic Development Alliance, have organized a panel discussion next week in Dublin “to ask questions, share insights, highlight challenges, and provide valuable feedback to County leadership”.
“Economic development managers of Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, and Fremont will join us along a panel of mixed businesses to discuss topics related to the current landscape, labor market, and business investment,” organizers said.
“This event is designed to give businesses a platform to share their perspectives as our goal is to identify both the opportunities and the challenges that impact business attraction and growth in the Tri-Valley and Fremont,” they added. “Our collective goal is to foster a more supportive environment for business growth and investment throughout District 1.”
The “Economic Development Business Connect” is set for 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday (July 17) at the headquarters of Patelco Credit Union, 3 Park Place in Dublin. RSVP is required and space is limited. Learn more at eastbayeda.org.
Love Lucy online
The Museum on Main recently announced that its August installment of the Ed Kinney Speaker Series featuring historian and actress Leslie Goddard portraying late comedy legend Lucille Ball is sold out for its in-person shows at the Firehouse Arts Center, but people can still watch the performance with a special online viewing one week later.
“In the 1950s, comedienne Lucille Ball captured the hearts of television audiences across the nation with her wacky hijinks and fearless enthusiasm. Off-screen, she and her real-life husband Desi Arnaz launched their own television studio. But what does it mean when a TV star’s onscreen legend clashes with her offscreen reality?” museum officials said. “Goddard brings Lucille to life, paying tribute to both the true comic legend and the real woman behind the myth.”
“An Afternoon or Evening with Lucille Ball” has 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. shows at the Firehouse on Aug. 7, and an online viewing on Aug. 14 via the webinar platform BigMarker. Visit museumonmain.org.
