The Alameda County Board of Supervisors has appointed longtime employee Ram Gurumurthy to lead the county Information Technology Department on an interim basis following the retirement of its current director.
Gurumurthy was hired as an information technology manager in 2013 and has worked as the county’s chief technology officer since 2023.
He told the supervisors at the March 24 board meeting that it’s “an extreme honor” to be appointed as the department’s chief information officer.
“Tim Dupuis has done an amazing job, laid the soil foundation, accomplished so much, and he’s leaving a well-organized team so I’m looking forward to giving my all and get to work,” Gurumurthy said.
Dupuis, who was also the county’s registrar of voters, retired Friday after nearly 24 years with the county. Earlier in the month, supervisors appointed Cynthia Cornejo as interim registrar.
