The city of Livermore, Zone 7 and Cal Water-Livermore are again hosting their annual Water Conservation Art Contest, encouraging Livermore students in kindergarten through 12th grade to submit works of art such as paintings, photographs, sculptures and more.

This year's submissions should focus on the theme of "the beauty and water-saving power of California native plants." Entries are due by 5 p.m. March 1; visit www.livermoreca.gov/ contests.

Last year's grand-prize winning artwork was "A Water Droplet's Journey" by Ananya Garg — then a seventh grader at Mendenhall Middle School.
