A new Livermore restaurant preparing to open to the public this summer faced an unexpected mishap Wednesday when a pipe malfunctioned in its ceiling, resulting in a downpour of water.
Stampede, a country-themed bar and grill, reported the leak to the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department which responded to assist with the issue, according to LPFD officials.
Located at 1790 First St., the establishment has taken over the space formerly occupied by Buffalo Wild Wings. No customers were present when the pipe burst as the restaurant has not yet officially opened for business.
Since the incident, the pipe has been repaired and the water has been cleaned up, restaurant representatives said Thursday.
A portion of the drywall near the entrance must be repaired, restaurant officials added. Otherwise, there was not much damage.
Despite the waterworks, Stampede officials still aim to host soft openings running from this weekend into next week.

“We are so thankful we were there when it happened”, restaurant representatives told Livermore Vine. “If it had happened in the middle of the night, we likely would have lost everything”.
“We are so happy that this happened prior to opening and no one got hurt,” Stampede representatives added.
Prior to the leak, the restaurant’s concrete floors were sealed and the tables epoxied, allowing both to remain undamaged.
“It actually helped us clean the floors!” they quipped.
The restaurant now aims to pass a final fire inspection Friday, in time for Stampede’s soft openings and a private event.
The grand opening date has not yet been announced, as reps for the restaurant said it depends on passing the inspection and staff preparation through the soft openings.
“We appreciate the community’s support and can’t wait to open these doors and welcome everyone to Stampede!” they said.
