There’s one final weekend left to donate to the 2024-25 Pleasanton Weekly Holiday Fund, which winds down next week.
Proceeds from our annual giving campaign will be split evenly this year among 10 local nonprofits: Axis Community Health, CityServe of the Tri-Valley, Culinary Angels, Goodness Village, Open Heart Kitchen, Pleasanton Partnerships in Education (PPIE), Sunflower Hill, Tri-Valley Haven, Tri-Valley REACH and Valley Humane Society.
We’re so humbled by the strong support the Holiday Fund has received thus far, surpassing the prior year’s fundraising total several weeks ago thanks to contributions this fall and winter from residents, businesses, community groups and others, including many donating in memory of departed loved ones.
And with a push here in the final days, we could exceed our 2022-23 Holiday Fund results too. We appreciate each of you helping us provide critical funding to these vital organizations.
On the editorial side, we also relish the opportunity to share these nonprofits’ stories and raise awareness about their programs and initiatives.
Like last week’s cover story highlighting the affordable tiny home community Goodness Village in Livermore and its plans for future growth and community-building.
CityServe will use its Holiday Fund money to support its new Caring Hotels Network, a pilot program to provide urgent temporary housing in local hotel rooms to individuals and families in need during these colder months.
Tri-Valley Haven has continued its important work with families during the holiday season, including with the return of its in-person holiday shopping program to spread the joy to more kids.
Axis Community Health is committing its share of the Holiday Fund to its Axis Bridge crisis intervention services, such a crucial program for our community in this day and age.
Donations will help those facing food insecurity (Open Heart Kitchen) and special nutrition needs during cancer treatment (Culinary Angels).
Our campaign also bolsters efforts to educate children via PPIE programs, to offer affordable housing options to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities via Sunflower Hill and Tri-Valley REACH, and to nurture families and their four-legged friends through Valley Humane Society.
Your contributions make such a difference in your community.
A reminder that every single dollar donated to the Holiday Fund will be given to the beneficiary nonprofits since the program is being managed by our Embarcadero Media Foundation, which covers all administration and other expenses at no cost to the campaign. Because of our 501(c)(3) status, all donations are tax deductible and eligible for corporate matching where applicable.
