After roughly three months with an interim leader at the helm, Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley has announced Misty R. Jones as its new permanent president and CEO.

Jones is set to officially start in the role June 9. Her predecessor Rick Shumway left the position in January after being promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer for Stanford Health Care. At that time, the reins were taken over by Mino Sastry on an interim basis while the organization launched a national search for a permanent replacement.
Jones brings more than 20 years of experience in clinical and leadership roles in health care, most recently serving as chief operating officer for two academic medical centers at SSM Health – a Catholic, not-for-profit health system based in St. Louis, Mo., according to a statement from the Tri-Valley health care network.
“We are excited to welcome Misty Jones to Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley,” Shumway said in the statement. “With her impactful experience guiding strategic planning and performance initiatives, her leadership will advance our health system’s mission to deliver world-class patient care and serve as a trusted source of support and healing for the Tri-Valley community.”
Jones has held senior leadership positions at SSM Health for the past four years. She served as regional vice president of operations for St. Louis before assuming the role of chief operating officer for St. Mary’s and St. Louis University Hospitals. In these roles, Jones achieved significant improvements that increased operating room volumes and advanced the system’s value-based care objectives.
Prior to her time at SSM Health, Jones held a number of roles at MU Health Care in Missouri, with responsibilities that included driving organizational change programs and continuous improvement initiatives. Jones has amassed a track record throughout her career of developing complex service lines and optimizing operations to enhance efficiency and maximize patient outcomes.
In her new role as president and CEO of Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley, Jones will lead development and implementation of its strategic and operating plans, according to officials. In partnership with stakeholders from Stanford Medicine and the Tri-Valley community, she will be responsible for shepherding the Tri-Valley’s alignment with Stanford Health Care and driving solutions that advance the health system’s sustainable growth.
