High-rollers threw more than $170,000 into the battle over Dublin’s Measure II during the last few weeks, raising year-to-date committee collections to over $250,000 combined, according to recently released financial statements.
Overall, the opposition committee has received $136,304.42 whereas the supportive committee has received $122,500.
Both groups have also paid out tens of thousands of dollars on voter outreach in recent weeks. These figures were released as part of the second and final reporting period for election campaigns, spanning Sept. 22 to Oct. 19.
The contentious item, dubbed the “Dublin Traffic Relief, Clean Air/Open Space Preservation Measure”, asks voters to give City Council the power to approve limited commercial development along the future Dublin Boulevard extension. The Crosby property would be included in the developable area.
Between late September and mid-October, the supportive committee called “Keep Dublin Moving – YES on II 2024” received $102,500, for a year’s total of $122,500.
Its highest contributor this period was Bex Development, LLC (Randall Branaugh) from Castro Valley who gave $48,000. The next highest contributor was Livbor-Manning LLC (Harry Crosby), owner of the Crosby property, who gave $29,500 for a cumulative $49,500 this year.
Support also came from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 595 Issues PAC at $15,000, the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 342 at $5,000 and the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 104 Issues Committee at $5,000.
In terms of expenditures, Keep Dublin Moving spent $67,339.42 this period for a year’s total of $85,473.44.
The bulk of the money paid out over the past few weeks went towards television and digital ads, campaign literature, mailings and campaign consultants. TV airtime cost $20,000, digital advertising cost $16,500, literature and mailings cost $11,193.28 and consultants cost $7,500.
An additional $10,335 is still owed to Atomic Productions in Emeryville for video production.
On the same day Keep Dublin Moving filed its latest financial report, the committee also amended its list of expenditures made from Jan. 1 to Sept. 21. The amendment includes a bill for campaign consultants costing $7,500.
On the other side of the argument, “Save Dublin Open Space – No on Measure II” raised $75,273.20 this period for a year’s total of $136,304.42.
Contributor Jeanette King of Livermore gave $20,000 this period for a total of $45,000 this year. And Save Mount Diablo gave $50,000.00 this period for a year’s total of $83,920.22.
Save Mount Diablo also contributed staff time and drone images valued at $4,273.20 this period.
This year, Save Dublin Open Space has spent $75,375.75 to oppose the measure, $47,402.18 of which was paid during the most recent reporting period.
The majority of its recent campaign expenditures have gone towards direct mail, totaling $34,221.90 this period. Though the committee’s website and consulting fees have cost another $5,868.20 this period.
