Dublin Police Services is investigating after three masked thieves ran out of Dick’s Sporting Goods with nearly $12,000 worth of stolen merchandise and successfully fled from Fallon Gateway on Monday afternoon.
The situation unfolded just before 1 p.m. Monday (July 28) when three people walked into Dick’s at 2820 Dublin Blvd. and left with items they didn’t pay for, mostly Nike clothing, before driving away from the shopping center, according to Dublin police Capt. Miguel Campos.
“It was just another case of thieves grabbing a bunch of merchandise and walking/running out of the store,” Campos told the Pleasanton Weekly.
Police officers responded to the crime and were able to spot the suspect vehicle on Interstate 580, but the driver did not stop and managed to elude police, according to Campos.
The daytime retail theft remains under active investigation by police. Campos said witnesses described the culprits as two Black men and one Black woman.
