An annual toy drive in the Livermore Valley this month — strengthened by a corporate match — has garnered over 2,300 items for kids across the Bay Area, as part of the nationwide children’s charity Toys for Tots.

Coordinated by the Livermore Valley Wine Community, Holidays in the Vineyards events at local wineries Dec. 6-7 resulted in 1,182 toys and $982 in cash donations, according to a statement by the nonprofit.

Pleasant Hill-founded Pacific States Petroleum then contributed a matching donation for a total of 2,364 toys and $1,964 to purchase additional toys, according to the statement.

All the donations are then contributed to a local drive organized by the U.S. Marines.

“We are proud to partner with Pacific States Petroleum again to support Toys for Tots and help bring holiday joy to children across the Bay Area,” Livermore Valley Wine Community Executive Director Brandi Lombardi said in a statement. “With these donations, more children will have a smile on their face this holiday season.”

This year’s collection marked the 39th consecutive year Livermore Valley Wine Community has supported Toys for Tots.

“Our purpose with Toys for Tots is to make a direct impact within our community by providing a toy to local children that would otherwise not have a present,” said Jason Edwards, executive director, propane, for Pacific States Petroleum.
