Nearly 1,000 demonstrators descended on Portola Park on Saturday to protest the policies of the Trump administration and encourage early voting in the upcoming Nov. 3 election, according to local organizers of the fourth annual “No Kings” Day.
The Livermore event was one of thousands of “No Kings: Vote Early” demonstrations held nationwide on Oct. 17. The events were organized to denounce the Trump administration for its “un-American policies and illegal activities” as well as to boost voter turnout, officials from organizer Livermore Indivisible said in a statement.
“Our elections are under attack,” but voting early allows for a buffer time to correct any potential ballot issues or election day problems, Livermore Indivisible steering committee member Keith Hatschek said in a statement.
In Dublin, Indivisible Tri-Valley hosted a “No Kings: Vote Early Family Fair” Oct. 17 with more than 300 attendees, according to organization steering committee member Srivani Ward. Demonstrations also took place in Oakland, Pleasant Hill, Concord and Mountain View.
