Tri-Valley Haven’s annual Pace for Peace walk/run is set to return next month starting from the nonprofit’s community building, located at 3663 Pacific Ave. in Livermore.
Now in its 29th year, the nonprofit’s annual fundraising event seeks to raise money for the the many different services it provides to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and homelessness in the Tri-Valley.
“Every step taken at Pace for Peace helps strengthen the safety net for survivors in our community,” Carolina Alaniz, Tri-Valley Haven’s director of domestic violence services, said in a press release.
“Each year, Tri-Valley Haven provides safety, support, and hope to hundreds of women and children seeking refuge from domestic violence,” Alaniz continued. “This event not only raises critical funds, but also sends a powerful message to survivors that they are not alone and that their community stands with them.”
The event next Saturday (Oct. 3), which is being held during national Domestic Violence Awareness Month, will feature a 5K walk, a 10K run or a 500-meter Kids Dash that attendees can choose from when signing up.
“The wheelchair-accessible event welcomes participants of all ages and abilities, with group and student discounts available,” the press release states.
According to the nonprofit, this year’s theme, “Run to Build Lives”, reflects Tri-Valley Haven’s “commitment to helping survivors and families move toward safety, stability, and brighter futures”.
