Celebrating 10 years in operation, Livermore Lab Foundation is hosting a “Decade of Impact Celebration” on Aug. 5 in Livermore.

LLF serves as an “independent, key philanthropic partner”, supporting continued research and outreach initiatives at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, according to the foundation’s website. Since 2016, the foundation has granted over 175 paid research fellowships to college students across the country in critical areas of research, including carbon management, data science, fusion energy and life sciences.

“This fellowship provides a unique opportunity to not only engage in deep technical research but also to present my findings at the Decade of Impact Summer Showcase,” said Vibha Chandrasekaran, a life sciences fellow from the University of Arizona.

The foundation recently welcomed its 2026 student cohort, inviting students schools including Las Positas College and University of California, Berkeley. Community college fellowships are made possible through Livermore Lab Foundation’s partnerships with local community colleges, including Las Positas College, Bakersfield College and Odessa College. Interns spend the summer immersed in cutting edge research with mentorship from renowned scientists.

This year, LLF is supporting 23 students for a full internship experience at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, according to a press release. The LLF is also sponsoring 13 additional students to support their Livermore research endeavors.

“Engaging with a talented, diverse cohort of fellows from across the country is an invaluable way to grow both personally and professionally,” Chandrasekaran said.

The Aug. 5 celebration fundraiser features a student research showcase, wine reception, and a plated dinner. Tickets can be purchased via livermorelabfoundation.org.
