The Livermore City Council is set to hold two public hearings at Monday’s regular meeting, including one on a proposed rate increase for services provided by Livermore Sanitation, Inc.
The agency requested a baseline cost increase of 1.65% for solid waste, recyclable materials and compostable materials services, according to the meeting agenda.
If green lit, residential and commercial customers would see a monthly increase of $0.51 to $1.56 for basic monthly collection service, depending on the container size of their subscription. The requested rate adjustment would become effective July 1.
Livermore Sanitation landed on the proposed increase after projecting that the cost of providing all services during fiscal year 2026-27 will be 1.65% greater than 2025-26, according to a staff report prepared by Livermore management analyst Marisa Gan.
A public hearing is also scheduled for Monday’s meeting to consider approving the city’s Annual Action Plan for fiscal year 2026-27. The plan outlines how the city intends to use federal funds to meet affordable housing and community development goals.
Funds expected for distribution during the 2026-27 fiscal year total just over $625,000, according to a staff report prepared by Livermore management analyst Amy Walker.
The intended recipients include Abode Services, Tri-Valley Haven, Axis Community Health, Tri-Valley Haven and Spectrum Community Services.
The council meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Monday (May 11). The agenda is available here.
*The council is also poised to receive feedback and give direction on potential revisions to the city’s Draft General Plan 2045.
The final plan is intended to serve as a comprehensive framework for the jurisdiction’s goals and policies to update the existing 2003 general plan. A copy of the draft is available here.
On the consent calendar — composed of items typically considered routine and decided with a single motion — the council is poised to review over 20 items.
*Among the consent items, the council is set to approve the Final Parcel Map for the Livermore Village site at the southeast corner of South L Street and Railroad Avenue.
Approval of the final parcel map would authorize the execution of a Subdivision Improvement Agreement for the construction of private and public improvements associated with the 130-unit affordable residential development by Eden Housing.
Improvements associated with the project include storm drains, an emergency vehicle access road, a stamped concrete path, trees, sidewalk repairs, lighting, sewer, water, and utilities.
*Also on consent, the council is poised to sell a 4.53-acre parcel located at 5658 Doolan Road in unincorporated Alameda County to East Bay Regional Park District.
The EBRPD Board of Directors expressed its interest at a meeting this month in using the land dubbed the Oslen property as potential staging area for public access into Doolan Canyon Regional Preserve.
*The council is also set to adopt the city’s Vision Zero Action Plan as policy direction for eliminating fatal and serious injury traffic incidents.
*They are also set to authorize the annual display of the Philadelphia Pride Flag during June and the POW/MIA flag during November on the Civic Center Campus flagpole.
