Connector closure
Caltrans will be closing down the southbound Interstate 680 to eastbound Interstate 580 connector overnight this Sunday for emergency repair work.
The closure, which will last from 9 p.m. on Sunday (May 10) to 5 a.m. the next day, will allow the state agency to perform “joint repairs at the I‑680/I‑580 separation”, Caltrans stated in a press release.
“To safely complete this work, the southbound I‑680 to eastbound I‑580 connector and an adjacent lane are scheduled to be closed overnight,” the agency stated. “Caltrans thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as we continue to improve California’s transportation network.”
Detour signs will be posted so that drivers know where to go to avoid the closure.

Benefit concert
The Alan Hu Foundation, a Pleasanton-based nonprofit dedicated to mental health awareness and research, will be hosting a benefit concert this Saturday (May 9) at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasanton.
According to the organization, the concert aims to raise mental health awareness and money for the Alan Hu Scholarship Fund, which was created to honor Hu and others who lost their lives to psychiatric disorders.
“Since 2021, the Alan Hu Foundation has presented scholarship awards to Tri-Valley high school seniors whose college and career aspirations are in mental health fields. We depend upon donations to continue to offer scholarships,” foundation president and co-founder Xiaofang Chen said in a press release. “Alan was a cellist, so a benefit concert is a fitting tribute to his memory, and a way to support promising scholars.”
