Livermore High softball team earns EBAL championship

The Livermore varsity softball team took the East Bay Athletic League championship title after winning their home non-conference game May 12 against cross-town rival Granada by a score of 2-0.

The Livermore varsity softball team took the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) championship title after winning their home non-conference game May 12 against cross-town rival Granada by a score of 2-0. LHS ended its season 22-3-1 overall and 12-1 in league play.

It took Livermore to the final game of the regular season to knock Granada from the EBAL unbeaten ranks, then the Cowboys turned around and did it again, topping the Matadors 2-0 in the EBAL playoffs.

The star of the day was Livermore’s Taylor Rodriguez. At the plate Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with a home run. In the circle she allowed only four hits and struck out nine.

For the season. Rodriguez is 22-2 with a 1.02 earned run average. In 165 innings pitched, Rodriguez has struck out 286.
