The Footgolf Classico tournament is set for this Saturday at Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore.

The Footgolf Classico tournament is set to take place this Saturday (Oct. 28) at Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore.

Organizers said the upcoming event will be the first public footgolf tournament and play-day in the city.

The sport is a combination of soccer and golf where players kick a soccer ball into large 21 inch cups. Just as golf, players tee off and try to make it in the hole with the fewest kicks possible. The footgolf course at Las Positas Golf Course runs alongside the regular golf course and is open year-round.

Tee times for Saturday's event are set between noon-1 p.m. and the tournament is open to all ages and skill levels. As a nine-hole event played in teams of two, it takes about one hour to finish a round.

Space is limited to 20 teams with a cost of $25 per player, organizers said. In addition to participating in the tournament, the cost includes entry gift, raffle ticket, and a chance at the championship prize.

The event is presented by the National FootGolf Association (NFGA), the leading footgolf organization setting up public tournaments, leagues, fundraisers and building footgolf courses.
