Motorcyclist dies in early morning Livermore crash

Investigation underway; all roads now open to traffic

Livermore police announced on social media a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred early morning Wednesday.

"Just before 5:30 a.m. this (Wednesday) morning, Livermore police responded to a report of a traffic collision on Isabel Avenue and Airway Boulevard in Livermore," LPD officials told Livermore Vine in an email and shared in a post on Facebook.

"When officers got there, they learned a vehicle struck a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The cause of the collision is unknown and the investigation is underway.

Police are interviewing the driver of the vehicle, who they said is cooperative and remained on scene. LPD will not be releasing the identity of the motorcyclist pending notification of next of kin. 

Following the incident, officers were diverting traffic away from the area of Highway 84 and Isabel Avenue during the morning commute. All northbound traffic was closed from Jack London Boulevard to Interstate 580 for a few hours.

Officials said as of 11:15 a.m. all roads are back open.
